Toowoomba is a picturesque mountain city located on the top of the Great Dividing Range 127 km west of Brisbane. As Australia’s largest inland regional city of over 90,000 people, it is the commercial and economic hub of the Darling Downs hinterland servicing in excess of 250,000 people. Toowoomba industries include agriculture, manufacturing, retail and education with more than 23 private schools, a technical college and Southern Queensland University.

The city has a rapidly growing multicultural community with the need of migration support. In February 2014, Auslink staff presented an immigration information session sponsored by Toowoomba’s Regional Council’s Cultural Diversity Network to inform migrant residents how to navigate Australia’s migration system complexity.
